About

Welcome

I am an artist living on the beautiful Isle of Wight where I was born and spent my childhood. Heavily influenced by nature and the varieties of landscape and seascape we have here, there is a seemingly endless source of inspiration

In recent years, my focus is on the sea, sky and coast. The transforming moods can be dramatic, wild and serene in equal measure. I enjoy the big skies, changing weather and the endless horizon but am equally inspired by the intricacy of cliff top grasses, hedgerows and pebbly rockpools.

After graduating from Chelsea College of Art in 1996, I enjoyed a long and creative career as a printed textile designer. This creative learning journey is never ending and as I focus now on fine art this has never been more apparent. Every day that I draw, paint or observe is an education!

My art practice mostly revolves around walking and the observations made while out, I sketch a little …mostly fleeting scribbles that I then work into upon returning to the studio. I take pictures for reference and take notes but mostly I try to just look and absorb, preferring to use and translate that feeling on to the work when I return to the studio.

I mainly use acrylic but happily mix media these days in whatever way feels good and right for the results I am after.

Thank you for stopping by.
